An Open Call for Tunes

We've all had those moments where we're listening to a song and suddenly realize that that song, that band, that singer is singing to us. Somehow they got a hold of your diary (or your brain for those of us who think diaries are, well, lame) and they are singing your life!
I went through a period recently where I was listening to a lot of Sinead O'Connor. (Come on, we're children of the 80's - sometimes we just need to sit in a dark room, shave our heads and sing about giving babies up for adoption. Can we just leave it at that?) So anyways, I am listening to Sinead when I realize that "Emporer's New Clothes" is like, legitimately, 100% about my life. Well, except for that whole giving the baby up for adoption part. But seriously, other than that, it was like she was singing about me! So of course I listened to it on repeat for approximately 13 days in a row. And let me tell you, it's STILL good! That is a GOOD song! You need to listen to it. Now. Listen to it and tell me if you are struck by the uncanny resemblance that song has to my life. Aside from that whole baby/adoption thing.
But anyways, this very same phenomenon happened with Hester P, who recently pointed out an awesome song that I have all this time had in my iTunes but had never really listened to. It's "Flying High" by Jem. Now I love it. I will probably listen to it 36 times tonight, and every day for the next two weeks.
So, in light of these two songs that are both super awesome and incredibly prophetic re our lives, I thought I'd made an open call for tunes. I love new music suggestions, since most of mine come from iTunes guessing whether or not I like Tim McGraw (NO) or Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (YEAH!!). The last time I did this sort of thing, I learned about "Laffy Taffy" which pretty much has become the anthem of my life. So hopefully this time around I'll get some stuff that might even be more relevant than a song about Sinead giving up her baby. (I know, hard to imagine, but this is the internet - anything's possible.)
I will start you off with a little summer track list of things that make me want to dance sexy in front of the mirror and sing along:

1. (the most obvi) Shake it off, Mimi. (Clearly this one is The Roni's primo anthem. And by anthem I mean the numero uno go to song for dancing sexy in front of the mirror.)
2. Emperor's New Clothes, Sinead
3. Flying High, Jem
4. Toxic, Tristan Prettyman
5. Lover I Don't Have to Love, Bright Eyes
6. Anything off of Youth, the new Matisyahu album

Ok, in retrospect, looking at this track list, it's basically a girl's guide to doing a little cathartic driving down the highway at 90 miles an hour singing at the top of her lungs, followed by hacidic jewish rap. A unique mixing of flavors, but delicious nonetheless.
Now it's your turn. Let The Roni, and the rest of her adoring little minions, know what's hot and what's now in the world of music. Feel free to suggest things that don't necessarily make you want to spurn men forever and burn your braw...
Kisses,
The Roni

PS Am just now listening to "We Run This" by Missy and it likewise rules. Check it.

I am currently OBSESSED with the song "Every time we touch" by Cascada. It's very Euro pop bounce around in your car with the song on high volume. In other words, it is the best song ever and I LOVE IT
